Zuiver furnishes the “living room of the Zaanstreek area”

We at Zuiver are often given an opportunity to furnish restaurants, offices or other projects. These are always very nice assignments. But when the project involves refurbishing an iconic building in your own home town, it is a wonderful assignment. I was immediately filled with enthusiasm when Het Zaantheater in Zaandam asked us to refurbish the theatre’s foyer.

Together with Angelique Finkers, the director of Het Zaantheater, Zuiver worked out a plan for remodelling the theatre’s foyer. We immediately got on well together because we were on the same wavelength in terms of the approach. At Zuiver, I feel that my main motivation in terms of our products is to help people feel much happier in their homes.

And this is how Angelique also saw the project. She wanted to create a living room atmosphere in which theatregoers would feel at home and enjoy staying after a performance to talk to each other and also with the artists who had just given the performance. This is a special thing at Het Zaantheater, almost all artists come into the foyer after a performance to talk to members of the audience.

I think that we have managed to create the perfect conditions for spontaneous encounters like these. Angelique proudly calls the new foyer “the living room of the Zaanstreek area.” It also makes me very happy that our Zuiver Beau chair is such a prominent element – a chair that I love because of its simplicity.

Our Beau chair also began on the drawing board. We wanted to add a chair to our Zuiver collection that would be perfect for enjoying sitting at the dinner table for a nice long time: a chair for evenings that begin with being busy in the kitchen, followed by plopping down on a chair to enjoy a glass of good wine and not really wanting to get up again to do the dishes. (I must confess that in actual life I mostly get takeaways in Amsterdam rather than cooking. After all why spend time in the kitchen when there are so many lovely restaurants nearby?)

Well, we definitely achieved our ambitions with Beau chair: a chair that is not only attractive (“beau” means beautiful in French) but also super comfortable. A chair that is also full of style with a PU leather backrest and fabric with trendy hexagonal pattern.

“Did you know that PU leather (also known as ‘eco leather’) is almost indistinguishable from genuine leather and much easier to use and maintain than genuine leather?”

Did you know that PU leather (also known as ‘eco leather’) is almost indistinguishable from genuine leather and much easier to use and maintain than genuine leather? I still hear people making derogatory remarks about PU leather, but this attitude is truly unjustified.

PU leather is becoming more fashionable and more and more furniture brands are choosing to use it. The advantages of PU leather include the following. Unlike genuine leather, PU leather is easy to clean using just a damp cloth. PU leather is also stronger, more robust and more affordable than genuine leather while it is almost impossible to see or feel the difference.

If you are curious to know more, take a look at the site of Het Zaantheater to see if there is an upcoming performance that appeals to you. This would also give you an opportunity to actually experience and enjoy the theatre’s living room/foyer, our Beau chair and other Zuiver products. If you love the welcoming, at-home feeling, you can find all our furniture on our website as well as the addresses of our dealer

“I know for sure that the 160,000 people who visit our theatre every year will feel at home in our new foyer and will give Zuiver a standing ovation.”
