Trend spotting is not something you do by just browsing through a magazine, an interior shop or fairs. You spot trends easier on the streets, whilst shopping. So yes, I have to shop for Zuiver… which I don’t mind!

It is strikingly clear that Scandinavian influences are streaming our way. Scandinavian designers, clothing brands, beauty products and entire chains are represented in our country. ‘Hema’ meets the Danish Flying Tiger and & Other Stories has opened a most beautiful clothes shop at the Heiligeweg in Amsterdam. Let us not forget about the Danish top designer ‘Hay’ and the Danish clothing label Modström, which has unnoticeably found its way into my closet and has taken up almost my entire wardrobe.

Also out on the streets you will notice the Nordic trend emerging. Recently We Are Labels opened its 6th store in Amsterdam on the Raadhuisstraat, with a shop in shop from the Swedish skincare brand L:A Bruket and a collection of brands like the Danish Nümph and Samsoe & Samsoe. An amazing store to immerse yourself in the Scandinavian atmosphere.

To stay on top of this Nordic trend, I visited Copenhagen for a week. I hired a bicycle and explored the entire city, from the design museum up to the shopping area Strøget from the Food Halls on Christianshavns to the Louisiana Museum in Humlebaek. This not by bicycle by the way, but by train which is within easy reach from Copenhagen!

It is clear to me: Copenhagen is hot! The magazines are filled with shopping guides and weekend getaways with design routes mapped out through this Danish capital. Even the popular Scandinavian TV series “The Bridge” is amazing!

Tomorrow I will start by soaking up some more trends, but after that it will be time for some action! It is time for a Dutch Zuiver to travel to Scandinavia. Our floor lamp Tripod Wood White with her long legs and white shade should do very well up here in the beautiful North! What do you think?
