The story behind our popular chair, designed in collaboration with Studio APE and introduced in 2017.

The beginning

A popular and accessible piece, because comfort and design come together in this chair. The Albert Kuip chair was designed in collaboration with Studio APE from Amsterdam. The seat is made of 100% polypropylene and has strong ash wood legs. As an ode to our capital, the chair is called after the most famous market: the Albert Cuyp.

Our icon

The first design was the white Albert Kuip chair. The chair was a great success, not only because of its soothing appearance, but also because of its extreme seating comfort. Working at home or a long wine & dine? The Albert Kuip chair is your best friend.

Design process

The Albert Kuip is designed by Studio APE. We wanted comfort and style, but also a timeless design that fits into any interior and any space. Over the years, the family has grown significantly and we have added more colours, fabrics and versions to the collection.

Sustainable designs

Sustainability is very important to us. So we designed the Albert Kuip coffee chair. The seat of the chair is made of 42.5% coffee residue. We processed leftover coffee pulp into a biobased seating. We also designed the Albert Kuip Soft, where we reuse 'failed' Albert Kuip chairs and upholster it with different fabrics.

Albert Kuip Garden

In 2017, we introduced the Albert Kuip garden chairs. The chair is comfortable, made of 100% aluminium and therefore weatherproof. The design is stackable, so easy to store in the winter. For extra comfort, we have designed separately available cushions.
